One year of being my own boss, I realized I was not building a business

TL;DR

My first year wasn’t about building a business, it was about building alignment.

Personal Memo from Dié 📝

When I look back at this past year, I don’t see a curvy line of progress — I see a constellation of dots. Each dot represents a moment of presence.

People often describe entrepreneurship as a journey of “pivoting,” but that word always gives me a "passive" vibe, as if you are trying to "catch up" with the change. In reality, my path felt more like placing one dot after another — sometimes messy, sometimes lost (actually most of the time) — but the pattern finally began to make sense.

Only after a year, I'm able to tell that I was not building the BMP (Business Model Plan) blocks, I was building alignment.

🌱 Step Zero

In every entrepreneurial program I joined, the formula was the same: define your audience, find their pain points, build, test, tweak, and repeat until people pay.

True — and highly useful.

But what they never mentioned was Step Zero — the step before all of that.

Have you noticed how businesses start and fail, or how some brands succeed yet feel hollow — as if you can’t sense the heartbeat behind them? It’s because they all skipped Step Zero.

Step Zero is aligning your business idea with your own beliefs and values, finding the you inside the work — the reason you care. I’m not talking about surface-level answers like “make money” or “help others.” Step Zero asks why those things matter to you? What truth of yours connects to this path?

Because the real foundation of entrepreneurship isn’t the offering or the market — it’s the clarity of the founder.

That clarity comes from self-awareness: knowing your energy source, your values, and what feels meaningful even without external success. You stop asking “What will work?” and start answering “What feels right?” And paradoxically, that’s when things begin to work — because your energy is clean, consistent, and authentic. Adaptation, then, isn’t about pivoting in action — it’s refining internally, aligning what you do with who you are.

If there’s one thing this first year gave me, it's the conviction to build from truth, not fear.

🌿 So Why Live With Hu Exists?

The modern world monetises distraction. We are surrounded by noise — endless stimulation pulling us away from ourselves. I was a victim of it for thirty years — always chasing something outside to feel complete.

When I discovered the power of presence and awareness, I was blown away. I went from being a fearful follower — defining my worth through work and relationships — to becoming a courageous observer who navigates life with calmness and authenticity.

I knew this needed to be experienced by others.

Through my work, I want to help people build awareness through everyday pauses. And I want to make it practical:
light a candle, take a breath, bring your senses back to the here and now;
Journal a thought, notice your feelings, dust off the path between the mind and the heart.

Calm doesn’t grow from a spa day or a vacation; it roots in the consistent practice of creating space between thoughts, and blooms when the mind quiets enough for you to hear yourself again.

In a way, Step Zero applies to life, too. It’s not a stage, but a rhythm — it never really ends.

So I invite you to this quiet practice of returning to yourself, one pause at a time.
